For this next installment, THQ intended to target more platforms to demonstrate how the MX vs. ATV Untamed was first announced by THQ in E3 2007. Due to technical limitations, the mobile version is a side-scrolling racer that focuses only on MX and ATV vehicles. ![]() The handheld and mobile versions support ad hoc wireless multiplayer, permitting up to four players for at least the former. All versions support multiplayer, with console versions limiting split-screen multiplayer to 2 players, while prescribing a higher player limit for online contests. The PlayStation 3 version also supports motion control by allowing players to use SIXAXIS tilting to steer. The Wii version of the game takes advantage of the motion controls and versatility of the Wii Remote to offer three different control schemes: one where the Wii Remote is turned sideways as a steering wheel, another that uses the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to perform gesture tricks and a third one that supports the Classic Controller. Unlockable vehicles, parts and customization options are purchased with in-game currency accrued through tricks. Players can also freely roam racing environments and perform tricks. Some racing modes take place over two motos (plus an optional practice session that precedes them), where finishing at a better position in would give the player more gate choices for the next moto or the actual race.
